Biography
Hi, I’m Jo, the heart and hands behind Red Door Florist. I believe that flowers tell stories, they capture emotions, create memories, and breathe life into any space. With a passion for design and an eye for detail, I transform nature’s beauty into meaningful floral experiences, for a weddings and events.

My Journey
My love for flowers began as a freshman at Sierra High School in Tollhouse, CA, where I discovered my passion through floral competitions. As part of a dedicated team, we competed across the state, earning 3rd place overall in California in 2003. This early success ignited my interest in floral design and led me to work at my family’s floral shops in Auberry and Petaluma, CA. I quickly developed a preference for wedding design, creating my first wedding arrangement at just 17.
By 2012, I had fully transitioned to designing weddings exclusively, honing my craft and developing a signature style. In 2018, I began working with my local school district during the week, reserving weekends for floral events. When 2020 brought an unexpected pause, I turned my focus to cultivating my garden — falling in love with the process of growing from seed to harvest. This passion inspired the launch of the Neighborhood Garden Project, which now provides plants, produce, and flowers to the local community.

Education and Growth
Driven by a desire to expand my knowledge and sharpen my business acumen, I pursued higher education on full scholarships, earning:
Associate of Applied Business with a focus in Social and Digital Marketing (2021)
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Leadership (2023)
Inspired to continue learning, I completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Operations Excellence in 2025. Alongside my business studies, I explored liberal arts courses with a goal of teaching secondary science. I’m excited to begin this next chapter through the Fresno County Rural Teaching Residency, starting in Fall 2025, where I’ll have the opportunity to share my knowledge and inspire future growers and designers.

The Birth of Red Door Florist
What began as a vocational skill has blossomed into Red Door Florist, a creative space where I merge my love for color, texture, and form to craft designs that are both timeless and personal. Drawing inspiration from nature, art, and the changing seasons, I take pride in bringing my clients’ floral visions to life.
As I step into the role of a teacher, I’m excited to pass along these skills and experiences, nurturing the next generation of creators who will continue to cultivate beauty in the world.
Let’s grow, design, and inspire together.
What Sets Me Apart
At Red Door Florist, I believe that no two arrangements should ever feel the same. I take the time to understand each client’s vision, mood, and theme to create bespoke designs that feel authentic and memorable. Whether it’s a romantic bouquet, an elegant tablescape, or a bold statement piece, I thrive on pushing creative boundaries while honoring the beauty of each bloom.

Beyond the Blooms
When I’m not immersed in petals and stems, you’ll likely find me wandering through local farmers' markets, exploring botanical gardens, drawing inspiration from nature, or experimenting with new design techniques. I’m passionate about sharing the art of floral design and love connecting with others through my work on Instagram at @reddoorbrand, where I showcase my latest creations and behind-the-scenes moments.
But my passion for nurturing life goes far beyond flowers. As a mother of two amazing teenagers, I’ve learned that parenting is both my greatest joy and most rewarding challenge. This deep love for family led me to another meaningful journey — helping others experience the gift of parenthood.

A Passion for Growing Families
As a gestational carrier, I had the privilege of helping five families across four different countries welcome their own biological children. Now retired as a carrier, I continue to serve this incredible community by recruiting and coordinating for an International Surrogacy Agency. In this role, I’ve had the honor of bringing three more beautiful children into the arms of deserving families, with several more little miracles on the way! Follow along or learn how to become involved at @projectfertility on Instagram.
Just as I nurture life in the garden and in floral design, I’m honored to help nurture families, one precious life at a time.
Whether I’m growing blooms or building families, I’m always inspired by the beauty of life in all its forms.
